To be awake inside your breathing

In Hildegard’s cosmology, human beings are a microcosm of the whole world.  Humankind and nature are not separate but fractal (micro-macrosom) aspects of one reality. What we do to nature, we do to ourselves.

The earth is at the same time mother,
she is mother of all that is natural,
mother of all that is human.
She is the mother of all,
for contained in her are the seeds of all.
The earth of humankind contains
all moisture, all verdancy, all germinating power.
It is in so many ways fruitful.
All creation comes from it.
Yet it forms not only the basic raw materials for humankind,
but also the substance of Incarnation.
~Saint Hildegard of Bingen (a mystic, visionary, healer, medicine woman, writer, composer, philosopher, and Benedictine abbess, 1098-1179).
